The manufacturing process of carbon steel rectangular pipe involves several key steps to ensure high quality and precision in the final product.
Rolling and Welding
Carbon steel strips undergo quality checks and are trimmed at the edges before being fed to the tubes mill. The strips pass through rollers to gradually form the tubular shape. A welding machine is used to weld the trim edges of the strip using the TIG welding process. Any scraps and inside weld bead are removed immediately by the Tibo machine, resulting in the formation of rolled pipes and tubes.
Cleaning and Heating Phase
The rolled pipes are cut to the required lengths based on industrial demand and then cleaned to remove any dirt. Heat treatment is applied to remove stresses that may have occurred during welding and forming processes. This heat treatment is done on a continuously rolling hearth furnace equipped with temperature recorders and controllers. After heat treatment, the pipes are straightened and pickled to remove scales from the surface.
Cold Drawing Process
In cases where the required size is not obtained directly from the mill, the cold drawing process is used. The tubes or pipes are coated with an oxalic and soap solution to act as a lubricant during the cold drawing operation. The tube or pipe is drawn over the bench using die plugs to achieve the desired size.
Finishing Process
The drawn-out tube or pipe undergoes cleaning, heat treatment, pickling, and straightening. A computerized ink jet marking machine is used to mark the finished pipes or tubes with the grade of material, size, heat number, and third-party inspection stamp. The pipes then undergo testing and quality checks before being properly packed and dispatched for various applications in industries such as construction, mechanical manufacturing, shipbuilding, and more.
