PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
ASTM A36 carbon steel plate is a carbon structural steel that complies with ASTM A36/A36M standard (Q235 steel is a Chinese standard, equivalent to ASTM A36 steel (American standard). A36 steel plate is made by rolling A36 steel coils into a corresponding length flat shape. It is widely used in the fields of construction, bridges, machinery manufacturing, shipbuilding, agricultural machinery, mining equipment, automotive structural parts, etc. It is particularly suitable for manufacturing welded and bolted metal structures for industrial and civil buildings, as well as products and parts for general construction and mechanical engineering purposes.

Carbon steel plates are typically known for their low alloy content, often referred to as mild steel. The main elements found in carbon steel plates are carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, and silicon, with no strict limits on other elements such as aluminum, chromium, nickel, molybdenum, or vanadium.
Carbon steel plates are available in various grades based on their carbon content and strength. The hardness of the steel plate increases with higher carbon content.
- Low carbon steel plate: Contains 0.06% to 0.25% carbon, also known as mild steel.
- Medium carbon steel plate: Carbon content ranges from 0.25% to 0.55%.
- High carbon steel plate: Contains 0.55% to 1.0% carbon, also referred to as hard steel.
Low carbon steel is the most common type, known for its malleability and ductility. Medium carbon steel offers a balance of ductility and strength, providing excellent wear resistance. High carbon steel is exceptionally strong, while ultra-high carbon steel can be tempered to achieve even greater hardness but lacks malleability.
Mild steel, a type of low carbon steel, is highly versatile. It is tough, strong, and stiff, making it ideal for welding, painting, machining, and drilling. Additionally, mild steel is magnetic and commonly used in automotive repairs, engineering projects, and various DIY applications.
